What's Hot Pilates, The Method Pilates is the name of the developer of Pilates, the conditioning program designed to strengthen and lengthen your muscles via controlled, rhythmic
movements. How Does Pilates Work? Many Pilates exercises evolved from Yoga postures, which require you to focus, breath and utilize all muscles of the body through each posture while maintaining proper body mechanics. The
exercises focus on body symmetry and abdominal control, thereby improving posture and stamina while reducing tension and muscular imbalances in the body. An active, not a passive role is required by the client, you are not just
"going through the motions". Does Pilates require any special equipment? No, if you choose to Pilates exercises designed for the Mat, this is an ideal program which can be modified for those who have
been diagnosed with osteoporosis. A client who performs the exercises regularly will experience increased "core" strength, thereby allowing them to move with more confidence due to the balance and strength gained. Pilates is
a great complement to any aerobic and cross-training program. Dancers and athletes have been utilizing Pilates for over 40 years for rehabilitation as well as reducing recovery time from injuries.
Apparatus exercises
are performed utilizing Pilates equipment under the supervision of a Certified Pilates Instructor who has had over 600 hours of class, clinical observation and teaching hours. Pilates Instructors must be proficient in Anatomy and Physiology and body mechanics to insure they design a program tailored to each client's specific needs.
