Model Management Services
Editorial print and runway assignments are the pinnacle of the fashion world. Agencies have very strict requirements in this field and tend to stay clear of newcomers. Our experience has been that models must not only meet strict height and weight requirements, but also have a unique or striking look that jumps out on the runway or the print. Runway models need to be very graceful and radiate elegance on the runway. Dance lessons are helpful in achieving the gracefulness and fluid movements
required for such assignments. You should not expect to meet these requirements without gaining some experience. We suggest that you first look for opportunities in the commercial modeling field.
Opportunities for commercial modeling assignments
are abundant. Because of the large variety of modeling needs in this segment of the market, there is not a typical modeling look. For this reason, agencies tend to search for models who have
diversity and range. Commercial modeling is a widely diversified field and can be as lucrative and rewarding as editorial modeling. For example, resort travel agencies choose models for various boards of
tourism and promotional bureaus in the US and overseas. Assignments often involve location assignments in Aruba, Jamaica and the Bahamas. It has been our experience that most models have
better success by gaining experience in the commercial segment of the modeling industry. Promotional modeling is a great way for newcomers
to develop confidence, poise and experience. There are many entry-level assignments available in the promotional modeling field. Promotional modeling involves fieldwork hosting booths at conventions,
trade shows, store openings and store promotions. Models often demonstrate products or act as hosts or hostesses for the client.
Petite Modeling
is a "niche" market and comprises less than 10% of the work available. Height and body sizes are not the critical point, but the models' work ethic, the right "look" and level of commitment to achieve success.
Plus Modeling is also a "niche" market with the same requirements as above. Specialty Modeling demands the same commitment as commercial modeling. Agencies will hold their
specialty models to the same high standards. |
